Review/Analysis

The increase in armed robbery and related incidents took their toll on the society. Armed robbers, in series of attacks across the south-east and south-west regions of the country, also shot and killed innocent lives. Though some victims met with their untimely demise, it was awesome as the authorities brought to halt the nefarious activities of the criminal gangs. It is, however, sad that many of them escaped and remain on the police wanted list.

Murder/assassination also stood tall in review Most of killing stemmed from pre-election violence in Bayelsa State. It was sad to also as reports of infanticide were on record. It is worse that the killings were carried out by the parents. The authorities responded swiftly to curb the killings and made an ample arrest of suspects. This was witnessed across different parts of the country.

Kidnap/hostage events took a downward plunge on the crime index, but the police were able to make some arrest regardless of the enormous challenge. Some victims were rescued and reunited with their families despite the huge amount of ransom demanded by the kidnappers. This incidents cut across various spheres and strata of the society.
