Review/Analysis

The increasing activities of assassins and murderers took the front stage this week as stories ranging from cult related murders and political killings abound. The south-south, south east, and south-west remain high prone areas of these deadly attacks.

Kidnap/hostage related cases have stayed top in recent times. Though the police have made some major arrests of suspected criminal gangs and notorious kidnappers, some victims are still held captive while the police have said that they are working tirelessly to secure their safe release.

Terrorism in recent times have been hampered by the might of the Nigerian military troops as they battle to recapture towns and villages killing fighters of the Boko Haram insurgent groups in a bid to return normalcy to the north-east. But the sect members, as they flee from the onslaught by the Nigeria military, have resorted to attacking villages and killing people at random.

Armed robbery incidents ranging from car theft, to burglary, and other crime related incidents cut across the country. It is however reassuring as the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) within the the week has arrested many suspects, who are being prosecuted in the Court.
