Based on the review of major incidents in recent times, the understanding is that there is an increase in robbery, gang and terrorism related incidents. Terrorism related incidents have their frequency mostly in the north-eastern part of Nigeria, while robbery and gang related incidents are widely spread with a slight tilt to the west.

Hostage, Kidnap and Murder incidents, particularly in the maritime sector are major security threats in the Niger Delta region as well as the south-west, with targets on rich and corporate entities. Few/random incidents were also recorded in these categories.

With the review of these incidents, corporate bodies and individuals are advised to be individually security conscious and to take cognisance of their environment and promptly report to the authorities any slight threat observed as such could prompt an investigation and prevent threats from becoming incidents.
